The Evexia Treatment Program

Whether this is your first time in treatment or you’ve traveled this road before, whether you need long-term maintenance or short-term detox, Evexia Health Services is here to help. 

While each individual’s journey to recovery will be different, the Evexia Treatment Program generally includes a few key steps. Our care team will work closely with patients to assess their needs, admit them to the program, develop a treatment plan, access the services they need, and monitor their recovery. 

When you’re ready to start your road to recovery, the Evexia Treatment Program will be your roadmap.

Step 1. Whether you’re referred to us by your healthcare provider or you contacted us directly, your first step will be coming in for an individual assessment and health check. During your assessment and health check, our physician will have a collaborative discussion with you to determine the medication that best suits your needs.

Step 2. Once the first step is completed, step two is meeting with your counselor. Together, you and your counselor will discuss and develop a treatment plan. The treatment plan will include goals and methods for achieving these goals. Goals can be problems that you want to address, activities that you want to accomplish, and health related items that our physician identified during the assessment. 

Step 3. After completing your initial assessment and meeting with your counselor, the third and final step will be receiving your first dose of medication. For this first dose, you will stay at our facility for a couple hours so our care team can monitor you for any potential side effects.

If withdrawal symptoms are a problem after the first couple of days, the physician will work with you to find the right balance. The goal is to find a dose that controls withdrawal symptoms with the fewest side effects.

After starting your treatment, you will need to return to the clinic every day to receive your daily dose of medication. You will also have regularly scheduled counseling sessions that will assist you in accessing resources to achieve your goals, resources such as vocational training, financial management mentoring, legal aid and peer support groups.

If or when you face challenges during your recovery journey, your care team will be there to guide you and re-evaluate your treatment plan with you. Each person’s journey is different – and Evexia Health Services will be there every step of the way!

Who do you help? Am I eligible to enroll in Evexia’s Treatment Program?

At Evexia Health Services, we welcome anyone seeking help for their opioid dependence or addiction. Our program is open to people 18 years and older (including pregnant women). Whether you are newly committed to getting clean or you’ve been in recovery before, our program will be tailored to your specific needs.

How long is the treatment program?

Recovering from addiction is a life-long journey, but getting treatment is one of the best ways to get started. At Evexia Health Services, each person’s journey is personalized. Your individual treatment plan (for example, detox versus maintenance) and how long you stay on that plan will depend on you. Our team will work with you for as long as it takes to meet your treatment goals.

What is the difference between “detox” and “maintenance”?

With the care of doctors and substance abuse treatment providers, treatment helps people with opioid addiction stop using opioids, supports them through withdrawal and cravings, and helps move away from other harmful behaviors. Currently, the two main treatment options for opioid addiction are:

• Detox is the medically supervised, gradual reduction of medication doses to help ease withdrawal symptoms and cravings. The goal is to slowly reduce medication dosages and discontinue medication by the end of the program. This is a short-term treatment and usually lasts no more than 21 days.
• Maintenance is a long term treatment that usually lasts for at least a year. The goal of maintenance treatment is to use medication (like methadone and buprenorphine) to control withdrawal symptoms and cravings over a long period of time, allowing you to spend time focusing on building a life in recovery.

What is the difference between methadone and buprenorphine?

Methadone and buprenorphine are both medications used in medication-assisted treatment for opioid addiction. Both are safe, effective, and approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In the body, methadone and buprenorphine work slightly differently, but they both trick the brain into thinking it is still getting the problem opioid (for example, heroin). The person taking the medication feels normal, but not high, and withdrawal does not occur.

• Methadone must be taken daily. It is only dispensed at a licensed treatment center, like Evexia Health Services.
• Buprenorphine can only be taken 12-24 hours after your last drug use. It is dispensed at a licensed treatment center, like Evexia Health Services, or can be given by doctors that have been specifically approved to prescribed it.

How long after I start treatment will my withdrawal symptoms go away?

This varies for each person. The length of your opioid use, and the types of drugs you have been using will all have an impact on your withdrawal symptoms. As such, your care team will discuss with you what to expect. They will evaluate your symptoms until the right dose is established and the withdrawal symptoms are gone.

What if I decide medication-assisted treatment isn’t right for me?

Evexia’s Treatment Program is designed to meet your individual needs and goals. If you decide that your treatment plan isn’t working for you, we’ll work with you to adjust it or transition you into a more suitable level of care.

What is the cost of treatment?

The cost associated with treatment depends upon a number of factors, including the type of treatment, the amount of time you will need to remain in treatment, and other care needs. When you come in for your initial assessment, our team will help determine if any insurance, such as Medi-Cal, can cover the cost of your treatment.

Many patients qualify for Medi-Cal. If you think you may qualify for Medi-Cal, need more information, or want help applying, contact our office.

If you do not have any insurance, our team will work with you to ensure you get care through our Self-Pay program. Our Self-Pay program determines your cost based on your ability to pay.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, Evexia Health Services accepts multiple insurance options, including Medi-Cal and private insurance. If you don’t have insurance coverage (or if your insurance stops funding treatment at any time), we will work with you to ensure you can get care through our Self-Pay program.
